After months of heard work Dean - M3DPE has released his first public beta of the eQSO X Linux server. Congratulations to Dean on this wonderfull job. The PMR 446 version of eQSO will now run on this beta version to give it some proper testing.
eQSO is a VoIP system but instead of it being used for phones, it is used build for and used by Ham Radio Amateurs.

I have now completed the server application which is the first release here and still in beta, although it has been pretty thoroughly tested over the last couple of months. It runs as a daemon application. There is no GUI front-end whatsoever, but it’s pretty straightforward to use.

Ok it’s been a while i had some action on ReseauCitoyen, but last weekend my i was over at my parents and as good father son bonding we fired up the solder iron and created a power over Ethernet cable for my Node. For now it’s just stuck in front of a window, but when everything is nicely glue’ed together it will be ready for outside placement.

As we’ve been linking PMR 446 Radio’s to the internet for over a year now, all based on the principle allready being used by HAM radio amature’s for a long time, Jeff Pulver mentioned another idea for radio linking in his blog.
The trucking community’s CB channels 19 or 9 could be inter-linked via VoIP software. like eQSO. Problem here in Europe is that CB VoIP linking is not allowed by regulations, but maybe these things can be changed ?
In some countries (of which belgium is still one) CB isn’t even license free yet!
But Jeff i’m all for it, so if you need any help, just let me know.

Since a couple of weeks my son (2 years old) has a passion for helicopters, we have quite a couple fly around in this area every day. As soon as one is flying over he is in front of a window within the blink of an eye.
As it is his birthday tuesday, i went out today to buy him a present. Well what else could i have bought then a toy helicopter…
I now understand that it is one of the most wonderfull moments in life seeing a little guy full of joy when opening his present. Makes me feel a lucky man to have a family.
P.S. Yes indeed we couldn’t wait till tuesday to give him his present

Last week VOIPuser has gone in to public beta.
The website currently offers UK phonenumbers which you can point yourself to any landline destination in a number of countries or, and this is even better, point it to your Voice Over IP SIP phone account (at any sip provider).
As with any beta, errors might occur, but please let us know in the forum if it works for you. Also if it doesn’t please let us know so we can look into fixing it.

Got an invitation to join the Groove Beta of version 3 yesterday. I installed it on a seperate machine as adviced (an older and slower one) and to my surprise this version of groove is WAY faster then the V2.5. even though it was running at a lower spec machine then my laptop is.
Also the LaunchPad (an MSN like contact window) to keep track of online contacts and status of the workspaces is a very welcome add-on.
So all in all i’ll be one of the first to…

Ok, as you might have guessed, the alarms system is now fully operational and making a lot of noise every time we forget to turn it off on time
Next thing on the list is adding the extra X10 Home Automation modules. I’ll have to do some nifty perl scripts to get MisterHouse to do what i want it to

The new alarm/home automation system came a couple of weeks ago, but haven’t had much time to even install it yet.
It’s all Based on the X10 signalling over signalling over power cables and parts of it are a wireless signalling system. I’ll keep you all posted as soon as i have installed it.
