YouTube on Apple TV, what about blogTV & ustream?

May 31st, 2007

With Apple announcing YouTube on the next update of apple TV (via MacMinute), i wonder if we could see BlogTV and ustream coming to either an AppleTV or an XBOX360 type device soon. As that would move user content even more into the living room, and what was discussed 2 days ago on blogtv session with Chris Brogan, would be able to drive citizen live news coverage to a new level.

Looking for Blackberry 7290 replacement

May 31st, 2007

It’s that time again, that i got the itch for a new mobile phone. I think apart from my nokia 9110, my current blackberry 7290 is the phone that i have carried with me the longest.

I have switched a while to an IPAQ 6515 mobile messenge but it just didn’t do the job, specially with the windows mobile locking up the phone 3 times a day, the love for that phone faded quite quickly.

I at least want to have, mobile data (gprs minimum), email (blackberry connect preffered), WiFi while @home or @office and with that SIP VoIP.

It looks like i should be aiming at the nokia E61i, but would like some alternative suggestions if you have any.

Adding some info to my blog

May 31st, 2007

i will try and add some more usefull (contact) info about me on my blog later on today. Wordpress move has gone quite smoothly, specially with the apache url rewrite rules redirecting my old posts to their new location.

Transfering the big stuff

May 31st, 2007

So i had to transfer this 300mb file to Dean the other day. Not really something you want to send out by mail. So when looking around i quickly run into Pando. I must say it was easy to use and did the job very well, specially the fact that i didn’t have to be online the same time as Dean to get it all send over. So all in all a nice tool to keep an eye out for.

Blogging with the speed of light

April 6th, 2006

Ok, it’s been one of these moments in which i think, hmm, my blog…

As everyone else again i’ve been very busy with work activities, specially SIP related.

Finally discovered iTunes a couple of months ago for my podcasts, still need to find a good way to synch my iTunes with my windows mobile pocket pc phone (HP iPAQ 6515 mobile messenger) instead of manually moving about the mp3’s via SD-Cards.

Further more Dean and I have been working on something new of which more news soon as when we make things public.

Speak to you soon.

Free VoIP/PSTN termination

January 6th, 2005

I know some of you have been waiting for the next step from VoIP User, well here it is….

Again it’s been a while but we’ve been busy, very busy, launching our new service.

I’ll try to explain it shortly here but for the full article just visit our forum post on free VoIP/PSTN termination.

When we did our number control panel where people could get free UK PSTN numbers to be forwarded to any SIP/IAX address or different landline destinations all over the world, we used part of the income on the numbers to finance the service, but we also saved up the revenue into one big community ‘pot’. This pot will now be given out to our users to make outbound calls.

Main purpose of this is for people to try VoIP freely without any obligations.

Of course we had to implement some limitation as to avoid abuse. That’s why we’ve chosen to make available only destinations that are <2.5p. This accounts for most landlines in Europe, USA & Canada, but a full list of possible destinations will be published on a later date.

Further more there will be monitoring based on income generated by users, i.e. people using our UK inbound numbers v.s. money spent on the outbound. Abuser will be lose their outbound access if we feel this is necessary to prevent abuse.

As I stated before this is a free community service which is relaying on community members them selves to support this service. Dean and I don’t get any income generated from the numbers on the website, so this service needs to be self supporting else if it runs dry no-one will have access anymore.

We hope everyone will contribute his/her part to be able to make this service worthwhile running.

And before i forget a happy new year to you all and all the best for 2005.

Also when next doing your (online) banking, please don’t forget all the people in Asia that have currently lost basically their whole lives. Any contribution how little it may be does matter.

A Skype Phone with Dual Mode SIP Network Calling?

November 8th, 2004

The VPT1000 Skype Portable IP-Phone was specially developed for the 11+ million users of Skype’s proprietary free calling network giving them the ability to place and receive calls with a real hard phone instead of using a computer based dialer, microphone and speakers. The product also gives Skype users the ability to seamlessly place and receive calls via over 30+ traditional SIP based networks including the ability to receive calls from regular landline phones.

Even more disruptive then Jeff would think..

September 13th, 2004

ok as i’m currently not only blogging at the speed of a blog entry a month i must admit i was also seriously behind on reading up on the blogs i usually follow so closely.

When reading up on things i found this entry from Jeff Pulver from the 9th of september about the LibreTel port of call service. I guess Jeff hasn’t been to our website in a long time as VoIPuser has allready been offering a service like this for UK numbers since the beginning of may.

VoIPuser is taking the kickback charges we receive for terminating the call, to pay for the forwarding of the call to landlines in selective countries all over the world or to any SIP or IAX2 destination. This makes this service totally free for the end-user that requests a UK number, not to forget that users can change their number forwarding when ever they like. Now that is what i call disruptive…
