Beta Grooving

Got an invitation to join the Groove Beta of version 3 yesterday. I installed it on a seperate machine as adviced (an older and slower one) and to my surprise this version of groove is WAY faster then the V2.5. even though it was running at a lower spec machine then my laptop is.

Also the LaunchPad (an MSN like contact window) to keep track of online contacts and status of the workspaces is a very welcome add-on.

So all in all i’ll be one of the first to…

upgrade to the new version.

The only wait now is for a pocket pc version, or just at least one that doest he online presence and instant messaging of groove. Allthough what would seem like a good idea would be a ‘Personal PocketWorkspace’.

I’ll try to explain with a little example:

Setup linking for certain items in different normal workspaces to the PocketWorkspace, which will allways be in synch with the PocketWorkspace on a PocketPc.

A proposition document synch’ed just before getting on the airplane (using airport WiFi), reading the document on the plane and reading/sending the Instant Messages. Then when back in WiFi range, it will send out the queue’ed messages created while on the plane.

This would make the Virtual Office model with extreme mobility, Ray Ozzie mentions in his blog, an even closer reality …
