Wireless Community SIP
Today i’ve been thinking some more about the possibility of SIP over community wireless networks.
The power of free voicecalls over the network is offcourse fantastic and with a nice Wireless 802.11b SIPphone BUT….
The only problem there might be is contacting users on the outside of this network. And then not really as much in peering and interconnection (most sip providers seem to have quite an open peering policy), but more in the fact that outside bandwidth probably isn’t easily available.
I guess i’ll need to have some more thoughts on this. Maybe if enough users are willing to open up one or two streams of bandwidth to the outside, and we have some way of knowing which of these streams are available, then calls can flow to the otuside too….
